Axiom introduces Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc in Dubai
23, Mar 2011.
At the first in what is set to be a series of "product preview" events in Dubai, Axiom Telecom today introduced the latest Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphone to select customers, Axiom staff and reporters.
The Xperia Arc is the most recent model in the series of Android-powered smartphones that Sony Ericsson introduced last year. Dominating the device is a 4.2-inch (480 x 854 pixels) display powered by Sony Mobile Bravia Engine, the same technology the company uses in its HDTVs. The name derives from the slightly curved back of the device, which gives the smartphone a very special profile meant to produce a better feeling grip when a user holds it. Sony has also provided its EXMOR R processor technology to the camera on the Arc, promising to deliver better photograph quality.
Weighing in at 117 grams, the Arc feels very light and thin, and the actual arc certainly contributes to this. Inside there is a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon single core processor, 320MB on-board storage, and 512MB RAM. Sony Ericsson includes a 8GB MicroSD card, which users can swap with a card of up to 32GB capacity.
The Arc also features many of the common smartphone specifications, like Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, MicroUSB port, A-GPS and FM radio.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the company claims it is the first smartphone in the Middle East market running Google's latest Android version.
The Arc will be available first week of April for a suggested retail price of Dhs 2,399.
